Local Kitchens: The Real Source of Authentic Preparations

Ankita is a single mother with the responsibility of two children, the entire financial burden is upon her. So, she gave up her dream of opening a restaurant. But she still wanted to cook and looking for a way to explore her entrepreneurial skills. So, she looked for opportunities to sell food from her own kitchen.

However, how could one start collecting orders other than social media? She needed a place to sell her preparations.

Ankita found her opportunity via ‘Foodizo’- a platform where foodies can order home-cooked food directly from a home chef. And thus, Ankita began her entrepreneurial journey with ‘Ankita’s Kitchen’.

She started with a few orders, and the response has been overwhelming. Dum Biryanis and Pav Bhaaji are some of her popular food items. She said that it is very encouraging to see people appreciating her home-cooked food and it is one of the best feelings for someone who loves to cook. She is pursuing her cooking passion while making monthly earnings to fulfill her family’s needs.

Ankita is not alone. There are a lot of home chefs who are unleashing their love for food and entrepreneurship via the Foodizo platform. Financial independence is the biggest advantage for home chefs and they are thrilled with this new platform.

Foodizo is an incredible eco system built upon the chef community that brings authentic local cuisines from home chefs to customer doorsteps. It is a one-stop destination for regional and global cuisines that include everything, from a simple brunch choice of Kadhi Pakoda with Chawal to delightful Rajasthani Dal Baati Churma, Gujarat’s Khaman Dhokla to sweets like Motichur ke Ladoo, Jalebi, and Sewaiya Kheer.

The basic idea behind Foodizo’s foundation is to build a sustainable ecosystem. After several brainstorming sessions, the founders decided to do something for women who end up as homemakers despite being very good at culinary skills.  We are creating financial opportunities for them without them having to leave the house. Home-chefs can decide their work timings, prices, menu, and area of delivery in a way to convert their passion into a sustainable business.

As for foodies, they have an additional option of pre-ordering for the future. Customers can book the next day’s breakfast in the evening. This feature is also beneficial for the chefs as they know what’s coming their way.

Being a home chef is itself empowering. You can have total control over inventing something new in the kitchen. For those who are not ready to work under someone, all you need is to grab the chef’s hat and startup. So, the old saying perfectly fits here – My kitchen, My rules!
